While discussing the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, everyone noticed some innovations in the terrorists' equipment. For example, in some places they crossed the border using hang gliders:

Conspiracy theorists are whispering about the imminent collapse of the dollar, and the Poles' favorite clairvoyant says that in the spring GPS will also go out all over the world.

We don't know anything about other people's vangas, but we can already say: what a wonderful magazine The Economist is, what a wonderful picture it has! Most likely, sharp-eyed people will figure something out there, so we'll follow the development of events.

Γιατί έχουν αρχαιοελληνικά ονόματα οι πλανήτες

Τα οκτώ ουράνια σώματα που κινούνται γύρω από τον ήλιο, λέγονται πλανήτες. Οι πλανήτες του ηλιακού μας συστήματος είναι 8: Ερμής, Αφροδίτη, Γη, Άρης, Δίας, Κρόνος, Ουρανός και Ποσειδώνας. Οι πλανήτες δεν έχουν δικό τους φως. Δέχονται φως και θερμότητα από τον Ήλιο, είναι δηλαδή ετερόφωτα σώματα.Τους περισσότερους από αυτούς τους ανακάλυψαν αρχαίοι Έλληνες αστρονόμοι γι αυτό δεν είναι περίεργο που τους βάφτισαν με ονόματα Ελλήνων θεών.

Η επίσημη αστρονομική κοινότητα θεώρησε πως έπρεπε να συνεχιστούν τα ονόματα από την αρχαία ελληνική μυθολογία, τιμώντας με αυτόν τον τρόπο τους αρχαίους Έλληνες που θεμελίωσαν την Αστρονομία.

Πως πήρε το όνομά του ο κάθε πλανήτης

Ερμής

Ο Ερμής είναι ο πιο κοντινός στον ήλιο πλανήτης και ο πιο μικρός στο ηλιακό μας σύστημα. Οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες αστρονόμοι είχαν παρατηρήσει πως κινείται πιο γρήγορα από τους υπόλοιπους πλανήτες και γι΄ αυτό του έδωσαν το όνομα του θεού Ερμή, ο οποίος σύμφωνα με τη μυθολογία ήταν ο αγγελιαφόρος που μετέφερε μηνύματα σε θεούς και ανθρώπους.

Αφροδίτη

Αυτός ο πλανήτης είναι ο πιο λαμπερός και φαίνεται με γυμνό μάτι από τη Γη. Χάρη λοιπόν στην λαμπρότητά του οι αρχαίοι τον ονόμασαν Αφροδίτη, προς τιμήν της θεάς της ομορφιάς.

Γη

Οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες δεν θεωρούσαν ότι η Γη είναι πλανήτης και πίστευαν πως ήταν το κέντρο του σύμπαντος . Την ονόμασαν Γη από τη Γαία, η οποία προϋπήρχε με το Χάος και τον Έρωτα-Φάνη στη δημιουργία του Κόσμου.

Άρης

Είναι ένας πλανήτης που έχει κόκκινο χρώμα, το οποίο οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες θεώρησαν πως συμβολίζει το αίμα του πολέμου. Έτσι του έδωσαν το όνομα του Άρη, του θεού του πολέμου.

Δίας

Δίας ή Ζευς, Jupiter ή Jove στα Λατινικά, ο Άρχων του ουρανού, ο Θεός του κεραυνού και της βροχής, αυτός που συγκεντρώνει τα σύννεφα.Είναι ο μεγαλύτερος πλανήτης του ηλιακού μας συστήματος.Γι αυτό του έδωσαν το όνομα του Δία, του βασιλιά των Θεών.Συμβόλιζε για τους αρχαίους Έλληνες την παντοδυναμία και την απόλυτη εξουσία.

Κρόνος(ή Χρόνος)

Βρίσκεται σε πιο μακρινή απόσταση από τη Γη και κινείται πιο αργά από τους υπόλοιπους πλανήτες, τους οποίους μοιάζει να παρακολουθεί από μακριά. Οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες τον ονόμασαν Κρόνο, που κατά τη μυθολογία ήταν Τιτάνας Θεός του Χρόνου και των εποχών και πατέρας του Δία. Το όνομά του σχετίζεται με τον χρόνο.

Ουρανός

Καθώς δεν είναι ορατός με γυμνό μάτι από τη Γη, όπως οι άλλοι πλανήτες, ο Ουρανός δεν αναγνωρίστηκε στους αρχαίους χρόνους ως πλανήτης. Ώσπου το 1781 τον ανακάλυψε ο αστρονόμος και μουσικός σερ Ουίλιαμ Χέρσελ με τηλεσκόπιο.

Ο Χέρσελ ήθελε να τον ονομάσει “Το αστέρι του Γεωργίου” (ή βασιλιά Γεώργιο), προς τιμήν του βασιλιά Γεωργίου του 3ου, του οποίου υπήρξε προσωπικός αστρονόμος, αλλά η επιστημονική κοινότητα δεν του το επέτρεψε. Ο νέος πλανήτης πήρε το όνομα Ουρανός που του έδωσε ο Γερμανός αστρονόμος Γιόχαν Έλερτ Μπόντε.Κατά την ελληνική μυθολογία ο Ουρανός ήταν πατέρας του Κρόνου και παππούς του Δία.

Ποσειδώνας

Είναι ο μοναδικός πλανήτης που ανακαλύφθηκε (1846) με μαθηματικούς υπολογισμούς και όχι έπειτα από εμπειρικές παρατηρήσεις.

Η ανακάλυψή του Ποσειδώνα χρεώνεται στον Γάλλο μαθηματικό Ουρμπέν Λεβεριέ, ο οποίος ειδικευόταν στην Ουράνια Μηχανική. Αυτός προέβλεψε τη θέση του χρησιμοποιώντας μόνο μαθηματικά.

Ο Γκάλε, που βοήθησε στην ανακάλυψή του, πρότεινε να ονομαστεί Λεβεριέ, προς τιμήν του Γάλλου μαθηματικού. Όμως η διεθνής αστρονομική κοινότητα δεν το δέχθηκε.Τελικά ο ίδιος ο Λεβεριέ τον ονόμασε Ποσειδώνα, από τον αρχαίο θεό της θάλασσας που του ανήκε το Βασίλειο των θαλασσών και ήταν ο εξουσιαστής της.Ονομάστηκε έτσι γιατί ο συγκεκριμένος πλανήτης φαίνεται γαλάζιος, καθώς στην ατμόσφαιρά του υπάρχει υψηλή συγκέντρωση μεθανίου.
