Athens Partners with EIB to Fast-Track €6.5 Billion Climate Investment Plan

Athens is advancing rapidly toward its goal of climate neutrality by 2030 through innovative projects and strategic collaborations.

The Municipality of Athens has signed a three-year cooperation agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB), securing vital technical and advisory support to implement its ambitious 6.5-billion-euro Climate Investment Plan under the EU’s Mission for 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

Formalized this week by Athens Deputy Mayor for Climate Governance and Social Economy Nikos Chrysogelos, and EIB Vice President Ioannis Tsakiris, the partnership is expected to help transform the city’s sustainability vision into tangible actions.

Key initiatives include upgrading municipal transport and bike networks, developing nature-based “cool routes”, revitalizing green urban spaces like Lycabettus Hill and the Podoniftis stream, and fostering clean energy and circular economy collaborations.

Athens’ Climate City Contract, approved by the European Commission in May 2025, marks its official recognition as an EU Mission City. This plan was developed with extensive local consultation via the city’s Climate Forum and emphasizes climate justice, energy democracy, sustainable mobility, and green urban renewal.

The EIB collaboration is part of a broader InvestEU Advisory Hub initiative, supporting six Greek cities — Athens, Thessaloniki, Kozani, Trikala, Ioannina, and Kalamata — in accelerating investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and smart infrastructure.

Recently, Athens hosted a seminar on “Financial Tools for Climate and Social Commitments” and plans to launch a Climate Investment Council to guide implementation with input from experts, officials, and community stakeholders.

California Cuts Off Water to Ranchers Without Warning as Globalist War on Farmers Hits U.S. Soil

Democrat leaders in California have once again drawn a battle line — not against crime, not against homelessness — but against ranchers and farmers, the people who put food on our tables.

With no warning, state authorities have cut off irrigation water to ranchers in rural northern California, effectively shutting down cattle operations overnight and putting family-run farms out of business.

One rancher summed up the devastation plainly:

“We just found out we’re not going to be able to get any irrigation water, which shuts us down as ranchers.”

This isn’t hyperbole. Ranchers now face an impossible choice — sell off herds, abandon land, or go bankrupt. “We’re just kind of looking at just having to go out of business, you know, because that’s what we do here is raise cattle. And if we don’t have any water, that’s going to be taken away from us. We’ll go dry.”

For rural families who have been ranching for generations, this is a death sentence.

“What do you do with dry land that you can’t grow anything on? We’re all going to have to go out of business.”

The official justification? Environmental restoration and “fish-friendly diversions” tied to dam removal advocacy — projects championed by Congressman Jared Huffman, a former attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, and backed by Governor Gavin Newsom.

Both men have enjoyed political support and donations from Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), which operates the infrastructure in question.

The Bigger Picture: From California to the EU

This isn’t just about California. What we’re seeing here mirrors what’s already happened to Dutch farmers in Europe, where radical “green transition” policies — heavily influenced by global climate treaties and elite think tanks — have crippled agricultural production.

In the Netherlands, nitrogen emission caps forced farmers to slaughter livestock and shut down operations, sparking mass protests.

The playbook is eerily similar:

1. Frame traditional farming as an environmental threat
2. Use regulations and resource restrictions to make operations financially impossible
3. Consolidate agricultural land under state or corporate control

These are the same tactics that the World Economic Forum (WEF) and allied institutions have been openly promoting for years. Under the banner of “sustainable development” and “net-zero,” they push policies that systematically dismantle small-scale, independent food producers in favor of centralized, technocratic food systems.

Why Target Ranchers?

Independent farmers and ranchers stand in the way of the elite vision for the future — one where synthetic lab-grown meat, insect protein, and corporate-controlled “precision agriculture” dominate the food supply.

If rural producers go bankrupt, their land can be scooped up for pennies on the dollar by investment firms and global agribusiness giants.

By cutting off water in California without warning, the state has effectively declared war on its own agricultural backbone. And whether intentional or not, the result serves the same agenda: fewer independent ranchers, more dependency on centralized food production, and more leverage for those who want to dictate what — and how — you eat.

The Dutch farmers have already been through this. Now it’s California’s turn. If this continues unchecked, it will be every rural community’s turn.

A needle-free COVID-19 vaccine developed at McMaster University in Hamilton is advancing to Phase 2 clinical trials, with researchers recruiting 350 volunteers to test its efficacy, the Hamilton Spectator reported.

The AeroVax study, led by Dr. Fiona Smaill, involves an inhaled vaccine designed to boost lung immunity against COVID-19 variants. Unlike traditional injections, the vaccine is administered through the nose, potentially reducing needle-related hesitancy and enhancing mucosal immunity, Smaill told the Spectator.

COVID remains a public health issue but is no longer considered a global emergency, having shifted from apandemic to an endemic state in most regions. Its severity has diminished due to widespread immunity, vaccines, and treatments, but it continues to pose risks, particularly for vulnerable groups

A Phase 1 trial with 36 local participants showed no side effects and a robust immune response in the lungs, with results under review by Nature Communications. The randomized, double-blind Phase 2 trial, conducted in Hamilton, Ottawa, and Halifax, seeks adults aged 18-65 who have received at least three mRNA COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Two-thirds of participants will receive the inhaled vaccine, while one-third will get a placebo.

The study aims to assess the vaccine’s effectiveness against severe outcomes and its potential for other respiratory viruses like influenza.

Recruitment began in April 2025, with trials expected to inform future vaccine strategies, including responses to pandemics like avian flu, Smaill said.
