Ο Αρίσταρχος ο Σάμιος ήταν Έλληνας αστρονόμος και μαθηματικός, που γεννήθηκε στη Σάμο. Είναι ο πρώτος επιστήμων ο οποίος πρότεινε το ηλιοκεντρικό μοντέλο του Ηλιακού Συστήματος, θέτοντας τον Ήλιο και όχι τη Γη, στο κέντρο του γνωστού Σύμπαντος. Aristarchus was an ancient Greek astronomer and mathematician who presented the first known heliocentric model that placed the Sun at the center of the known universe with the Earth revolving around it. Almost 2000 years later, the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus made his "revolutionary" discovery, that displaced the earth as the center of our universe, without ever looking at the night sky. All that was needed was one single step of logic!
